I am Emilie.

I am a grief guide, journaling mentor, nature photographer, author, and beach lover.

I am a mom to three young men and a daughter-in-law. I am a widow in a committed relationship with my partner.

I retired in June of 2023 after being in special education for 25 years, mostly as a middle school resource room teacher.

In my spare time, I can often be found curled up in a chair reading, bullet journaling, or watching TV and movies. I also love to play board, word, and card games.

My favorite place to be is on the shores of Lake Superior. I do a lot of my nature photography of the water and gorgeous sunsets. I also pick agates, omars, and beach glass.

My widow journey started when my husband, Steve, unexpectedly passed away in December 2017. We had been high school sweethearts and married for almost 20 years.

Working through grief and learning who I am as a widow and single mom, I did a lot of writing and processing. I turned my writing into published books and continue to share my messages through writing.

I love to help others and feel that everyone can benefit from writing, whether it be in a journal, a notebook, or scrap pieces of paper. I am excited to continue my journey as a journal mentor and grief guide, helping others connect to their soul through writing.

Each time, after experiencing the loss of a best friend, an aunt, and my husband, I turned to writing. I found joy in writing to my loved ones. I found peace in understanding my thoughts and emotions. I connected with my faith and acceptance of God’s plan through prayers.
